FOIAThe Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552, gives any person the right to access records maintained by a Federal agency except those records protected from disclosure by one or more of the nine (9) FOIA exemptions or three (3) law enforcement record exclusions. The law also provides administrative and judicial remedies for those denied access to agency records. Please consult the information on this Web site about How to Make a FOIA request as well as the DOJ FOIA Reference Guide if you plan to make a FOIA request to SIGTARP for its records. Before making a FOIA request, you should first browse the Electronic Reading Room that contains information already available to the public. We hope you will find this site informative and that it will give you a better understanding of the FOIA and its implementation by the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP). You may also visit the Treasury FOIA site. Last updated: Monday, 03-May-2010 17:12:34 EDT |
